China firms make $10-bn offer for Malaysia’s third national car project

TWO companies from China have proposed to invest US$10 billion (41 billion ringgit) in Malaysia’s third national car project and build a regional automobile hub to cater for the region in southern Perak, according to official sources.

The Malaysian government’s scandal-hit 1MDB development fund sold assets to Chinese companies in order to repay a US$602.7 million debt to Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), according to Singapore’s Straits Times.
